Let’s Dig in the dirt! Community Garden
One Acre to be planted at Tiger Park – Starting with one pumpkin seed: Plan is to plant 1/2 acre in pumpkins, 1/4 acre in melons, 1/4 acre will include 6 raised beds, strawberries and vegetables.
OSU extension in Chandler will be holding classes at the library on preserving, canning and freezing what we grow.
All volunteers are welcomed and needed.

Join Us June 30 at noon for a Community Grant Planning Meeting
Great news!
The library found out late Friday, June 25th, that we were one of the 34 libraries selected nationwide to receive a ALA COVID Library Relief Grant (no match required). We will be receiving $30,000 from the American Library Association (ALA) for teens and young adults programming, which includes hiring a part-time Library Assistant.
The project is for six months and all input is welcome.
A simple Lunch will be served at the library tomorrow starting at Noon.
A Few Things We Will Be Talking About
- Teens will be learning Tryon history
- STEM Gardening, growing milkweed and pollinator gardening and Monarch Butterfly cultivation
- Creating a mural
- Creating a tech café for teens
- Life lessons, like map reading and more.
Copies of the budget and narrative will be shared at the Noon planning lunch meeting 6/30/21.
